ExplicitWeb: A Podcast from the Front Lines of Web Development

Over the last few weeks John O'Nolan, Hannah and myself have been beavering away creating a brand new web design and development podcast. We call it ExplicitWeb and its purpose is to deliver interesting discussions and helpful tips about the industry with some banter along the way.

The ExplicitWeb name has been chosen for a couple of reasons but mainly because we don't want to censor any little mistakes or swearing. We simply felt the censorship restraints on the way we speak would make it feel unnatural.

After a few false starts we managed to record the first episode last night entitled, 'Local Development, Version Control, Designing in the Browser and Killing Kittens'. There are a few mistakes but overall it went pretty well. I urge you to have a listen on the ExplicitWeb blog, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to the ExplicitWeb iTunes feed.

I hope you enjoy it and I'd love to hear what you think.

Hey Rob,

I very much enjoyed listening to the podcast while at work today, nice friendly chatter style, down-to-earth and easy listening in the background.

I found it really refreshing to hear slightly differing perspectives on what are quite basic and common development/design practices – and generally things I take for granted, while I’m sure less experienced listeners will find the discussion very helpful – especially links on the ExplicitWeb website to the items/tools discussed.

Looking forward to more!

Thanks for the kind words Steve. I’m glad the conversational and friendly concept came across OK, it’s one of the main things we wanted to achieve.

We never anticipated the amount of positive feedback we’d receive just on day 1 and it’s comments like yours which are making it all worth while. Roll on episode 2!

Make sure you introduce yourselves with your surnames!

Super impressed with this first episode, 3 great topics that were really relevant to me!

Cheers crew, look forward to iTunes whispering to me that I’m downloading your next episode!

Thanks for the advice Russell, you’d be surprised how much thought went into not using our surnames much! The idea was to place the focus on the content instead of us, but it’s not a big issue so I’m sure we’ll be plugging our names in future episodes.

The fact that you used the word “beavering” here makes me extremely happy. That is all.
